Welcome at my portfolio website.
I am Willart de Jong student at the art academie ArtEZ based
in Arnhem following the Information & Interactive Media Design bachelor course.
The main question I like to ask my self is how I can show
you what I see and how you can show me what you see.
To awnser this question I'am using all types of "new media".
I hope that you like my work. And that this portfolio may
inspire you.

With this project we tried to connect the surrounding areas with the zuidas. North of the zuidas is situated
"oud zuid" which is designed by Berlage. South of the zuidas is situated "Buitenveldert" designed by Van Eesteren.
We took the road patterns of both designers and we connected them with lights and lasers.
This project is in collaboration with Charlie Berendsen, Joost de Nooy, Annemarie Hatzman, Marije
van Wijngaarden

Mark Bain's "Start End Time" analysed and converted into my own work. The images you see are related
to the sound you hear. The sound you hear is based on the vibrations from your chair. The vibrations
on your chair are based on the seismologic data from 9/11.

Unesco is trying to save the worlds inheritance. What we are building today might be on the list in
200 years. The list is getting longer every day. At the end the whole world may end up on this list.
This work will show what will happen in time.

I took my phonebill and tried to see what my call behaviour is.The white gap in the middle shows the weekend I was in germany for work. I could not use my phone there. The X axis is the days by month the Y axis shows the time of the day. The Radius represents the lenght of the call. The black circles with white strokes are text messages.

Designing a font takes a lot of time. Fonts get constructed by rules. Books are constructed by rules.
My font is constructed with blocks that fit in a 3d environment.

Inspired by an audio fragment from the movie "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock I tried to make my own movie with found footage founded on the sounds I heard.

This infographic is made for the european parliament. I took the floorplan of the chairs as center point. The collors of the lines represent the difrent comitees. The collors of the small persons are the collors of the political groups. The flags they are wearing represent their foreign country. At the right there is the total list of every member of the parliament. They have a number wich you can find on the floorplan. When you follow the lines you can see in what comitees, countrie and political group they are. This representation shows the complexity of the european parliament for me.

On the website biodiversitylibary.org is a big list. I tried to make a concept about how we can search through this list on another way. I took the quantities of a plant. The gradientbox functions as a slider.
